RAW Powertoy bug

I recently tried using the Raw PowerToy. It basically works great but I did
run into a problem which required me to unload it. For some reason with very
large 100MB tif images it seems to lock those files as if it is processing
them in the background.

Basically I was trying to edit the TIF file in Photoshop (it already existed
on the disk). I could open the file and edit it, but I could not save the
file. I would get a file locked message from the OS. I had to save the file
to a different directory to make it work. I also could not rename these TIF
files at the OS level either - got the same file locked message.

I loved the tool otherwise, but I could not live with this problem.

Hi Dan -

We found an issue just after the launch of the RAW Viewer that caused TIFF
files to be locked. There is a workaround for this issue and we re-released
an install of the RAW Viewer after 6/20. So if you download the current
install bits from our website at http://www.microsoft.com/prophoto you should
not experience this. If you reinstall with the older bits, be sure to
disable the ability to view Canon TIF RAW files. You can find more details
on this at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/prophoto/filelocking.mspx

I hope this helps.

Hi Dan -

In the link I provided regarding the file locking issue, you'll see that the
setting is related to Canon TIF RAW files, but other TIFF files can be
affected.

This should resolve your issue, but please let me know if it doesn't.
