I wondered if vista has a problem with RAW picture files.

I am running vista RC2 build 5744 have tried out a few programs, the likes
of adobe Photoshop elements 4 to acdsee 9 and I am having one problem in
particular.
The problem is using the photo downloader that comes with those programs.
The said downloader's can see JPG's alright, but can not see RAW files. As
the problem exists in two different programs made by two different companies
I can only assume the problem is in vista.
I wondered if there is anyone running the RTM 6000 build and uses RAW
picture files and uses one the programs I have mentioned, are they having
the same problem as me?

Any help gratefully appreciated.

I don't believe so...I'm using a Nikon D80 with various programs, and
I've used a D70s in PictureProject and Nikon Capture v4. They all seem
to work fine in Vista with RAW files. I haven't used Elements or
ACDSee though.

Nik,

Its possible those two programs have yet to be updated for Vista. I use RAW
image files often on my system for my blueprinting and haven't run into any
issues. If anything I think Vista's RAW support is better than XP.

Are you sure your photo applications support the particular RAW format
for your particular camera? They (RAW formats) are not all the same!

Have you updated the programs' RAW viewers to the latest versions?

I have used Photoshop CS2 in RC2 with RAW and can see the files well..

The main program can see the RAW files, it is the photo downloader that can
not see the RAW files.
I need/ want to use the photo downloader part of the program to download my
pictures is because I had loads of pictures to transfer to my computer and I
like it to be automated as much as possible.

NIK,

Did you ever get an answer to this. I just posted a very similar question.
I am having a very similar problem with Vist/PSE5/Picasa.

Thanks for any help

Jim
