Could anyone tell me - What is RAV? Also why should I
get somewhere near ten (10) email messages from MSN
telling me that they have taken out something and that I
should keep installing a patch. The patch is already
installed!

RAV is an anti-virus product that (I think) has just been
acquired by Microsoft. See:
http://www.ravantivirus.com/pages/

As a general rule - if you get some form of notification
with an address that indicates that it's from Microsoft
then it will turn out to be a virus with a spoofed address.
