Have an ECS mainboard (L7S7A2) with a jumper marked "FIDJP1".
Install manual gives a "Ratio" chart as to how to set
the jumpers, but no explanation as to WHAT the ratio
applies to.
Any guesses as to what the ratio is for? CPU? FSB?
ECS newsgroup and ECS website no help.

It's the ratio of the CPU frequency to the FSB. (In the Intel universe, it's
sometimes called the CPU multiplier. With Intel CPUs, is almost always
fixed.)

I'm unfamiliar with the board, but the "by CPU" position may be the best
choice for the jumper, unless you're experimenting with overclocking.

HTH.

Address altered. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

Read the top of the Table. I quote;

FIDJP1 Sets the CPU ratio. Refer to the following table.

IOW's, it sets the multiplier. And it will only work if the cpu you have
isn't locked. It's also incomplete as it only supports 4 of the 5
multiplier bits. Leave it alone if you don't know what you are doing and
leave it "BY cpu". If you wish to expand your knowledge, read link below.

Thanks for the two great replies ,they help enormously.
I also realize I might need to brush up on my reading and
comprehension skills. For some dumb reason "by CPU"
didn't equate in my brain as [SET] by [THE] CPU".
So no more than 6 beers while I'm building a machine.......
Thanks again
