Im trying to test RRAS VPN server and when I try to start the service i get
the message that "Access was denied because the username and\or password was
invalid on the domain". The machine is a stand alone box and the account i'm
using is one i created and placed into the admins group. I also get the
following error in my system log: Event ID: 7024 The RRAS service terminated
with service-specific error 691. Any ideas?

this may help. quoted from http://www.ChicagoTech.net

When attempting to start the Routing and Remote Access Service, you may
receive "The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with
service-specific error 711" and Event ID: 7024 in the System Event log of
the server shows. This behavior may occur because the Routing and Remote
Access Service is unable to start if the Remote Access Connection Manager
service, Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, and the Telephony service
are disabled.
RESOLUTION: to resolve this behavior, you must use the Services
Administrative tool to set the Startup Type of all the Remote Access
Connection Manager service, Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, and the
Telephony service to Manual.. After you have made these settings, you can
restart the Routing and Remote Access Service.

What is the OS on the VPN server? Is the VPN Server a DC? Do you get this
error while starting RRAS or while connecting to the VPN server from the
client?

I'm running it on 2003 server and it's not a DC. I get the message after
using the configure remote access server option and trying to create a VPN
server. I was able to set up the server as a NAT server but when i
disable\reconfigured for VPN i got the same message.

Thanks for the advice but i figured it out. I had relocated the log file and
when i changed it back to its default it worked fine. Did a search on
eventid.net for the event error id: 20153

thank you for the update.
