Hi,
(it's a bit off topic, since it only concerns winXP)

I usually use a remote desktop connection to take control of a computer on
the Internet.
Unfortunately, the ISP is having some bad times and I need to reset a few
times a day the connection manually on the computer (it's not scriptable...)

I still have two ol'good 56Kbps, and I can dial out from work so I was
wondering if there was a way to accept incoming connection so I can do a RD
connection, reset the stuff, and go back to a RD through the internet (2Mb
is faster than 56K)

I could install PC anywhere, since it has a dial in server, but I'd rather
not. I already looked a bit on the web and could only find tutorial on "how
to set up a dial up conn...."

Can anyone give some information please?

best regards,
Christophe Niel

Create an incoming connection using "Create-New-Connection --> Setup
Advanced-Connection --> Accept Incoming Connections"

Hi,

How does this work with a modem?
The only option I have are "parallel port" or "infrared port".

It's not a windows 2000 I'm using.

thanks all the same

Christophe

Hi,
Is the modem installed and is being recognized? Is it enabled?(Open
devmgmt.msc and check whether the modem is present there and is enabled). If
yes then you will get the "modem option" in XP also.
Thanks
