RAS is wasting my DHCP IP

Hi,

Every time I see my DHCP server IP table ...
always I find about 10-20 of IP address is assigned to
RAS ( phone icon).

Is there a way so that DHCP can dney IP address request
to any RAS related services ... so that I can save my
valuable IP ???

You can configure your RRAS server to use static IP instead of DHCP.
 
If RRAS is configured for DHCP address pool, it reserves IP addresses in
blocks of 10 from the DHCP server for it's clients. And by default, RRAS
gets configured for DHCP address pool. You can go for static IP address pool
by using Server UI, right click on the server name, select properties, goto
IP tab and you can select the Static IP radio button.

I don't run any RRAS server .... Problem goes like this ..

I have a windows 2000 DHCP server ...

Some of the users will configure a dialup networking
client on there workstation ( I don't know why ??? ) ...
Once they have this RAS service running .... they get one
IP from the DHCP server ....

If I see in DHCP manager ... there will be a telephone
icon and a IP will be assigned to it . I wanted to stop
this because .. It consumes all my IP address from my
DHCP pool ...

Please HELP ????

That is correct. As with a server, a client configured for remote access
must have extra IPs to allocate to the connecting client. By default, these
are allocated from DHCP. You will have to either prevent users from setting
up remote access, or ensure they don't use the DHCP option when they do it!
