Can someone help me with this?

Is there any way to rank TEXT in Excel. I want to automate
alphebetizing a column of text (I don't want to Data-Sort, etc). The
function RANK seems to only work with numeric data.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Say A1:A4 is alpha, beta, gamma, delta, I would like B1:B4 to someho
get these in alphabetical order so B1:B4 would be alpha, beta, delta
gamma.

Thanks!

Hy Aryeh,
I'm afraid you'll have to make a better description of why
one column is to be sorted in alphabetical order and why
the second column is to be in some other order that is not
clearly defined.

If you copy a1:a4 to column b and then sort column b only, you should get
what you want.

Sounds to me like he could just copy A1:a4 into b1:b4 and sort b.
Maybe I'm missing something too ? :)

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to
think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone´s fault.
If it was Us, what did that make Me ? After all, I´m one of Us. I must be.
I´ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No-one ever thinks
of themselves as one of Them. We´re always one of Us. It´s Them that do
the bad things. <=> Terry Pratchett. Jingo.
