Hi, I have a large (94mb) spreadsheet that has a lot (and
i mean a lot) of range names in it, I want to be able to
do a dump of all the range names and the ranges they
refer to, check it over, and then do an import into
another sheet so that the range names refer to the same
sheet names and positions but in the new sheet.

Anyone have any suggestions ?

do a dump of all the range names

select an empty sheet and goto menu Insert/Names/Insert/Insert list

Hi Neil

to get a dump of all the range names, find a clear spot and use
insert / name / paste / paste list

i'm a bit confused on the second bit of your question - not sure what you
mean here

do you mean an import into a new workbook? (as opposed to a new "sheet").

if so, copy the pasted list of names & ranges into the new book, select both
columns and choose
insert / name / create - names in left column
okay

this should give you what you want

cheers

Thanks Julie, The first part certanly works fine, I got
the list and checked it over, but when I coped it into
the target sheet and used the Nmae create option, it
didnt go so well. As it stands on sheet20 there is a two
column list, range name on left column and range on right
column. e.g. sheet20, a1 =billy1 sheet20 b1 = "='Sheet1'!
$A$1:$A$10". When I do the create names and select names
in left column it creates billy1 fine, but when I look at
billy1 it shows the range as "='Sheet1'$B$1" when it
should show "='Sheet1'!$A$1:$A$10. It appears to have
created all the names fine, but the ranges are refering
to the cell to the right of the name, not to the contents
of that cell.

Any ideas ?
