Hello all,
Hopefully someone might be able to give me some insight
regarding a rather odd problem I seem to be having.
Simply put, I receive the following error at random times,
but *only* when CLOSING .AVI files OR (less often) when I
close down certain games.
This is the error:
The instructions at "0x01921039" referenced memory
at "0x01a80cd0". The memory could not be "read". Click on
OK to terminate the program.
I am not sure if the memory addresses listed are always
the same. I will have to verify that.
I am of the opinion that this error is DirectX related, as
the only applications that ever generate the error are
using DirectX at the time.
The error never occurs while a clip/game is playing; Only
when the application is closed does it happen.
Incidentally, the error does not occur consistently. For
example, I will play an .AVI file and then close Windows
Media Player, and the error occurs. I can then immediately
play the same clip again, close WMP, and the error does
not occur. Other times, it will continue to occur until
the machine is rebooted.
Incidentally, the error does not appear to cause any
actual problems. I do not see anything remaining in memory
after the error occurs, and it does not apparently do
anything other than generate the error message itself.
I am going to re-set my page file to see if that helps,
but I can't imagine how it could have become corrupted so
quickly. (I reformatted and reinstalled XP and all my
applications yesterday, 11/11/03.)
If that does not do anything, I will check my physical
memory modules to see if one is possibly faulty. (Although
I doubt that.)
Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions...
