I am running windows xp pro sp2 on a dell dimension 8250 PC. Recently, I
bought a dell usb optical mouse. I am a random problem. windows is randomly
does not recognize it when i boot or re-boot. When it happens, i have to
unplug my pc to resolve it. It does not happen in safe mode. my updated bios
recognized it. it happens on all usb ports. dell has no drivers for the usb
optical mouse. the driver comes from microsoft. it is a USB Human Interface
Device or HID driver. The driver came from xp pro sp2 and i have not found
any update for this driver. however, plug-n-play recognized it. There is a
HID access service that is disabled by sp2 or an sp2 update. if you to start
the service up, it errs out. because the module is missing. i do not know if
this is part of the problem or not.
Can anyone help me? Has anyone experienced this problem before? Does anyone
have a solution?
