Hi,

Has anyone had their computer running Win 2000 Pro randomly reboot itself?
On average of 2 times a week my computer will just reboot itself. I may or
may not be using it at the time it reboots. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Robert,
What you may be seeing isn't a random reboot. What likely has happened is
that you received a dreaded BSOD but your machine is set to reboot
automatically in this case. You may be experiencing a driver error that is
causing this BSOD. Check you eventlog for errors around the time of the
reboot.

Hope that helps,
-Mike

I also had those "spontaneous reboots" from time to time. I finally solved
it by getting a APC Back-UPS Pro UPS for my system. Seems that my incoming
power was not as clean as I had thought afterall . . . That was years ago
and since then -- no more spontaneous reboots!!

I had a similar problem in my past.
I tracked it down to heat issues, the machine would run build up heat over
time and reboot itself.
It was actually a cpu, and needed more thermal paste and a better heat sink.
