its is now saying
antiviirus.exe is not responding

Your computer is still infected and you need to clean it up a lot more
thoroughly. Do *not* use registry cleaners. They are at best snake oil and
at worst will damage your system. See this thread for why:

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to do
all scans in Safe Mode. Please see the special Notes regarding using
Multi_AV in Vista.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please).

Not all tools used will work in Vista and you will need to run them
elevated. If you are unable to remove the infection by following the
general steps, register at one of the HijackThis forums as suggested.

Standard disclaimer: I can't see and test your computer myself, so these are
just suggestions based on many years of being a professional computer tech;
suggestions based on what you've written. You should not take my
suggestions as a definitive diagnosis. If you can't do the work yourself
(and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the
machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent
of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops
are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be
so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. If possible, have
all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.

Hi Alex,

It sounds as though you have got some form of malware on your system. Using
a registry cleaner is not a good idea and can certainly make your problem far
worse than it actually is. When you say in your second post "antiviirus.exe
is not responding", is that the actual spelling that comes up or is it a typo
on your part? Some malware writers use slightly altered filenames like this
to make it appear that certain programs are not working as in most cases
people will see the name but not necessarily notice the exact spelling.
Disconnect from the Internet for the rest of this procedure. Can you use
'System Restore' to restore to a time before you started having problems? If
so, then do so. Either way, the next thing to do is to purge all restore
points from your system, some of which might reinfect your machine if you
restored to that point in time. Restart your machine and enter 'Safe Mode'.
Now perform a full scan with your anti-malware programs. Allow them to fix
any errors that they find. If you need to restart your machine at any point,
continue the procedure in 'Safe Mode'. Once you have completed this, start up
your machine normally. Is the error message still there? If not, then you can
reconnect to the Internet. Please note that in some cases malware removal can
be extremely difficult, and it may be easier to reinstall Vista, particularly
if you don't have any important documents to lose. This is why it is always a
good idea to make and keep regular up to date backups of important data.

thank you for the great responses
to malke
i have read on that program you showed me and alot of comments are saying
that it deletes files
i am not willing to take that risk
i really didn't know registry cleaners did harm and have removed mine

to dwarf
it is not a typo and i have too many important files to do a clean install

could anyone please tell me the best FREE anti-virus, anti-spyware,
anti-malware ect. programs for vista

i am an armature at this kind of thing

i fixed it!
spybot search and destroy
advanced user mode
manage startup
stop process ''antiviirus.exe''

This is a virus it can and will add other malware to your machine. Best I can
find this is a trojan and fairly new. It means you hit a website somewhere
that asked you to install something probably told you that you had a virus
click here to fix and bam you are got. The error you got came from something
removing the program but not the reg key that starts it. You do need to do
more cleaning and make sure nothing else got loaded. It can load other
programs delete and add keys to the reg. It can also send information to
other people via the net ussing http protocols.
