Hi,

I have seen this problem around the net and dont really think its that
popular but still happens. My problem is that I create a mailmessage with a
html body type.

A random "! " (exclamation mark and space) gets entered into the body of the
text. I cant figure out why. Has anyone come across this and/or know a
solution to this. I trying having a straight string object that I keep adding
to and actually using a stringbuilder. No help. When I get the email back it
seems to have the exclamation mark. I had my mail admin trap my message and
take a look at it. It seems he saying that the rich text format of the email
doesnt have the exclamation but the html format does. Therefore it is being
inserted somehow somewhere.

Please if anyone has a solution to this I would greatly appreciate it

Thanks,
Tash

Could it be a text encoding issue?

I was reading Norwegian characters from a text file and they just were gone.
When I changed the encoding everything worked.

We have seen the same problem occur after the web host changed their mail
server software. The mail server software inserts a linefeed character after
a maximum line length (in our case, 98 characters). The linefeeds are shown
as an exclamation mark.

We complained about this to the web host but they opted to ignore us. :(
