hello all,
i have intel 2.4ghz(800) chip and a gigabyte ipe pro 2 m/b. i have installed win xp on my system.every once in a while i get errors on boot up basically saying ' a disk read error has occurred..press cntrl+alt+del to restart...." when i go into the event viewer the errors i normally see are either error code "51,7,9 or 11"..now this error is infrequent...but it is annoying. i have given the system to be looked to the system vendor a few times and the funny thing is that this error does not occur when the system is with him and again it wont occur for 10 days and then all of a sudden it will be there. from the research i have done microsoft does say that it might be a possible disk controller failure or the primary device used as a boot drive might be failing. now the hard drive i have is seagate barracuda sata 150 st380013as. i ran the utilities from seagate's site and they dont indicate a problem with hard drive? if the on board sata controller was failing then that would indicate a critical failure for anything and everything that is controlled by the controller which in my case is the intel ich5.? so my question can anyone please help me better understand this problem or offer a possible remedy to it?
