instruction or command from the user .modems have been
changed to eliminate that as a fault external modems have
been put in place but still no change. i have spoken to
BTopen world ref the Gain onthe line all is good their

Double click on the clock in your systray, go to Internet Time and disable
the "Automatically synchronise" box.

As you can see by the other replies there is a general theme. Turn off all automatic updating wherever you have it. This includes the atuomatic windows updates, virus definitions, and any programs that are set in their configuration to atuomatically check for updates at a given interval. This is time consuming and will require you to go into any programs or applications you presently have installed and check their configuration settings. Once you have succeeded you will have to do any updates automatically which for me is the preffered method. Even though I have Basic High Speed DSL I still never allow a program to check for updates on it's own. Leaves you open for attack in my opinion. Good luck.
