Random Desktop File Placement

One thing that happens a lot in Vista is what I call random desktop file
placement. The way I have my desktop setup is two rows of icons from the top
left of the screen spanning down to the right (the default way).

Now when I save a file to the desktop, 6 out of 10 times it puts the file
(visual representation of the file) under the "My Computer" icon...thus
shifting all my icons.

In previous versions of Windows, this never happen. Windows always put the
below the last icon on my desktop. Does anyone know anything I can do to fix
this rather annoying 'bug'?

It maybe one of the options that dictate how icons are arranged on the
desktop.

Right click on the desktop and you are presented with options
to arrange the icons by type, date etc.
Check view to see if they are being auto arranged or somesuch.
