Random corruption of local profile

I have been trying to locate a solution to this problem for the last couple
of months. I support approx 125 employees using Dell D400, D410, D420, and
D430 laptops that are secured, meaning they do not have Admin rights to their
laptops. Occassionally one of the users will log into their laptop and it
will load the default user profile instead of the employees profile. All of
their desktop icoms, shortcuts, drive mappings, etc., are missing though the
employee is still able to browse the explorer to their profile and are able
to access their files. Most of the time several reboots will cause the
correct profile to load.

However, the fact that this is an intermittent and apparently random problem
has made it difficult to determine the root cause of the problem. Can
anyone provide any insigt to what may be causing this problem?

there is a
"profile hive cleaner"
available at
microsoft.com

might be something
to look into.
