I have a fairly new laptop and every once in awhile, the computer will get
this solid blue screen and restart (it always seems to happen when I have
itunes and internet explorer running at the same time). Windows will try to
identify what happened and it comes up with no answer. I installed another
stick of ram recently, and it never did the blue screen deal until after that
so maybe could it be installed incorrectly or was there something I did wrong
when I installed it? I just want to get this figured out becuase like I
said, it's a new computer and it's already crashing. Thanks so much.

If it never did this prior to installing the new stick of ram, maybe the ram
is bad. Try this, remove the original stick of ram and place the new stick
in the originals slot. Try running the system on just that stick. If
everything is ok, now place that same new stick in the slot in which you had
it originally; again, only running the system off of that stick. If
everything is ok, the ram would appear to be good and the slots would appear
to be good, then we can move on to testing other possibilities.

I tried moving the new stick and everything was good. I wish I knew how to
duplicate it when it crashes, that might help a bit. Any other ideas?

Check the Event Viewer under Administrative Tools in Control Panel. It
should have a number of errors corresponding to these events. The
information within the error may give a clue as to the source of the issue.

Have you checked for updated Vista compatible software/drivers for your Ipod
or whatever device you are using with Itunes?

Under the event log, it has a Windows category. 5 out of 6 errors say
"Windows shut down unexpectedly." The other error is a video hardware error.
Maybe that one would cause the solid blue screen?

Source and EventID contained in those errors might help as well, I'm sorry I
didn't mention that before.

Check for the graphics card manufacturer's website for the latest Vista
compatible drivers for your graphics card. If your card is sharing memory
with main system memory, maybe there's an issue with the memory allocated to
the graphics card in the System BIOS. You should check the computer
manufacturer's website for information about adding memory and any issues in
that regard that might pertain your model.
