random application icons

The application icons for my Adobe Illustrator .ai files are random. The
..ai files are still associated with Illustrator, but the icons are wrong a
random. All other application icons appear to be correct. How do I reset
the application icon for a file type?

Go to start>mycomputer>tools>folder options. The dialog box will come up and check the tab for file extensions. Check to see if the illustrator extension is there and what is labeled for an icon. You also have an advanced tab to assist with this. In addition, you can go to the new button and add the extension and icon manually. Usually a copy of the icon for a program is located in its program folder. I don't know where the system file for this is in XP, but if illustrator has its icon you can load it there. Hope this helps and is what you want.
