RAMDRIVE in w2k pro?

Is it possible to set up a Ram Drive in Win2000 (pro).

If so, How? what would be the size limitation? can multiple ram drives be combined into one using the Disk Management console? could it be mounted in an NTFS folder?

I'd like to redirect allot of info onto ramdrives, to save clean-up time... ie:
cookies... tempory internet files, internet browsing history, tempory output files from scanners and PDF distiller, etc.

I can't find anything on it in the Knowledge base... all results pertain to pre-Win95 versions.

Could I simply take the RAMDRIVE.SYS file from a lower OS and use that?

Thanks for any help

Thanks very much, Steve.

Lots of interesting reading... now it's time to play !
(after first backing up my system of course... :)

Just goes to show you , that some are very smart to take good advice and
appreciate you for it.
Guess I need to heed your good example and deal with the email address
issue. I have begun to pick up crappy spam and hack scans in the NG are the
only location possible for them to be harvested.
Do you just feel like its all worth it, when you receive kudos from those
you have helped.

;-)
Good work,

Hi Steve,

I tried that one, and one other "modified" version.

The "modified" one failed to install properly... but I was able to get it to work.

The other one, wich you favor, also had some trouble getting started, but does work... I'm experimenting with it now.
But the size is very limited.

I'm looking to create a RamDrive of at least half-a-gig... to perhaps 1 Gb...

I've found some products w/ cost between $50 and $100.... but a bit leery...
W/O any first hand reports on their performance, or a point-in-the-right-direction by someone knowledgeable enough to be trustworthy (...like you, for instance... :), I'm hesitant to buy... there's so much crap out there masquerading as legitimate... I don't want to chance a total crash because of a poor choice.

Thanks for the help.
