Rambus ECC

ECC is essential for servers and in high value data
situations. Most home users don't bother. Are your
other RIMMs ECC? If they are then get ECC, if not
then don't as they won't operate in ECC mode unless
all RIMMs are ECC. However, is this machine worth
spending over $500 on?

I'm shopping 16-bit RDRAM RIMMs (PC800, 512Mb) and would like your opinion:
Is ECC worth it?

Yes. See "ECC Memory Isn't Everything -- It's the Only Thing"
under "Programming Methods" on my web page: http://bobday.vze.com
Also, in case you're getting the memory for the i820 chipset or the VC820
mainboard, the maximum memory chip density allowed by the spec is
128Mb (or 144Mb for ECC), and also for the 820 chipset or board, the
modules need not be in pairs.

That's a good question that I'm resolving now. Thanks for your remarks.

Thanks, your link is as complete of a description as I would have hoped for.
