I fitted 2 extra 256 SDRAMs in addition to 1 256 already
installed to expand memory and System says I only have
384 i.e. half of what is installed Im runnning on XP
Any ideas?

Hi
not to sure but if you had 256 of ram you only needed to
put one 256 in to give you 512 as far as i know you have
to fit them in pairs so three is a no no
If you need to get 1Gb you fit two 512 in
Hope this helps

Thanks
The metherboard has 3 slots, and the instructions say you
can expand to 768 using 3 x 256 dimms - which is what I
tried to do. I wondered whether it is something to do
with XP and the way it uses RAM

Only SIMMS had to be installed in pairs. DIMMs ( Dual Inline Memeory
Modules ) are basically two SIMMs on one PC Board.

Try the new chips on at a time to see if one or more are bad.

Also, You sure they are the correct chips for your mother board. Do
they Match the origianl chip in speed?
