i had 512MB of DDR Ram in my computer
but i upgraded to another 512MB which equals
just over 1GB and they said that you can't have anymore ram in you're
computer because you have no more slots
can i still get more ram is it true they have to take ram out to put more
in.

Inside you PC you may well only have 2 memory slots.
Which are now full with 2 512Mb sticks.
So it is completely possible that you have filled your PC to capacity.
If you want more memory you would need to remove a stick of 512MB and
replace it with something larger.

Go to your MoBo's web site to see.

Unless you look in your manual or remove the case to see and/or use a third
party utility to make a report on your board.

Also, how much RAM your computer can handle also depends
on two other things besides how many slots you have.

1.) How much RAM can your motherboard handle? On PCs it
tends to be 1 Gig now-a-days -- though I have seen 2 or
more on some rare occasions. (I'm basing this off what
you can find at popular PC stores.)

2.) How much your operating system can handle. But, since
you are apparently using WindowsXP, you should be okay.

HOWEVER...

With 1Gig of RAM...I doubt you need any more at the
moment.

This is, of course, complete tripe. Motherboards have been able to handle
2GB+ for at least 4 years. Even my old P3 450 could handle 2.5GB I have yet
to find a motherboard made in the last 4 years that couldn't take 2GB+.

Methinks you need to join the 21st century.

My ECS K7S5A Pro will only take 1GB of RAM...

Martin.

Cass, is that you? My Asus CUSL2 maxes at 512 and it's less than 4 years
old.

We have Intel boards less then a year old that max out on 512.
It must be Cass as as her information is 100% WRONG again.

Actually, my intent was only to correct a misimpression whether it was
posted by Cassandra or anyone else. In so doing, whether in this thread or
any other, there is no intent on my part to comment on the individual.

My Epox 8kta3 hits the limit at 1.5 Gb. It is a model from December 2000
so I guess it is late late 20 century technology.

Aw, not needed. You always get angry at other people when they are wrong.
So I guess we shouldn't get angry at your hypocritical bitchy ass.
