I have a p4p800dlx MB with 1 gig of Corsair pc3700 xms ram. Cpu is a
P4 2.8ht.

My question is that no matter what load I give the system it only uses
33% of the ram available. How do I increase the ram usage ?

At the present time I have my swap file placed on my 2nd harddrive,
size was locked at 2.5 gigs as suggested by various mags I have read.

Seeing as you have a gig of RAM, with XP the user can disable the pagefile
altogether thus making the system use the RAM for everything loaded. With
Win2k it demands a pagefile so I always used a small 200MB one. Since I run
XP and have a gig, i deactivate the pagefile and never have any trouble.

This is absolutely a terrible idea. Windows XP NEEDS a pagefile to run
at optimum performance, unless you have more than 4GB or RAM. All
you're doing by disabling the page file is forcing things into main
memory that are much better off being paged to disk-in effect you are
REDUCING RAM available to apps. And it still will create a small
pagefile just to allow the system to boot.

The point-removing the pagefile does not eliminate paging, it just makes
the OS work 100 times harder than it has to.
