Hi,
Want to upgrade the RAM on a Dell Dimesion 2400, spec of current ram is:

PC2700 DDR 333, CL2.5

Am I right in assuming that say this:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=46873

would be the right thing to get?

When installing it, whats the proceedure, unplug everything, earth myself, carefully slot ram into empty slot, plug everything back in, bios recognises it, away we go....?

Can you have different sixed chips in each socket, (256 and 512) or does it always have to be in matching pairs?

Thanks.

that RAM should work fine, try to keep the size of the sticks the same and it is best to keep the makes the same aswell, but you should be ok, to be safe i would get either 2 of the sticks you are looking at or 1 512MB stick

your intallation procedure is right, unplug the power cord then power on the system to remove any charge left in it, if you touch the radiator every so often and dont move about too much you should be fine, then as you say put it in a slot and put it all back and turn it on and your done
