I have Windows Ultimate installed on an Asus p5nsli mobo, Geforce 8800, big
honking pc power and cooling power supply, and an Intel core2 duo e6400.
originally I installed with 2 gigs of ocz 4.5.4.15 pc6400 [email protected]
upgraded it to 4 gigs of ocz 4.4.4.15 pc6400 vdim@ 2.1
I ran four passes on dos memtest to test the ram before installing. it
passed.

after booting into windows, the computer acts weird. random momentary
lock-ups, mouse curser doesn't have smooth motion, and random 100% cpu usage
with nothing showing in task manager.
if I pull two if the new sticks out, it's fine. which two and the slots they
are in doesn't matter

lets recap; two gigs in any order runs fine, four gigs creates random
freezes and phantom cpu loads
all ram tests good with no errors.

help?

Go into your BIOS settings and try different voltage levels for memory.
My motherboard is using 2.2v for memory. See if that helps.

Ok, I booted an Ubuntu live cd, Edgy Eft, and it had no issues with the 4
gig ram configuration on the p5nsli. didn't like the 8800, but thats another
battle.
I also put that same 4 gigs in my xp box, (Asus p5n-e sli, geforce 7900
enermax power supply winxp) and it had no issues with it either.
it seems to be an Vista issue only.

Come Microsoft employees, give me an answer for this issue.
