Hello I am trying to find out the type of ram for a Toshiba Satellite M70
PSM73A-00K007 laptop I put this laptop together fine and with the OS but
when I run a game or two it freezes so I am now memtesting the ram but I
have been tinkering with many laptops reciently and I dont know the type of
ram it can use I have in it DDR PC2-4200S but I dont know if its ment to
have DDR PC2-3200S. I cant find a manual even on the Toshiba website I did
find specs to the laptop but there is no mention of the ram speeds needed.
Thank you GK.

CPU/Chipset:

* Intel Celeron M 1.7 GHz
ATi RADEON XPRESS 200M (RS480M)

http://www.amd.com/uk/products/note...200M/Pages/ati-radeon-express-200m-intel.aspx

"with support for DDR2 memory up to 667 MHz"

667*8 = DDR2-5300

Faster memory can be used at slower operating speed. That is,
if the BIOS has an adjustment for the memory speed setting.

On some of the older chipsets, the FSB clock setting limits
the DRAM speed setting choices. So when they say it supports
5300, you may not always see that option in the BIOS. I don't
have enough details available, to determine what quirks were
involved there.

In any case, the BIOS might not have RAM settings, so your
only opportunity to "tune" anything, would be by changing
modules. But based on the info above, it doesn't look like
a 4200 would have hurt things.

Log on to www.crucial.com/uk and run its tester - it will examine the
machine and tell you what to do. Crucial memory is very good.
