I've recently installed 128MB of RAM (no other RAM modules
in this PC) It all registeres correctly on bootup in the
CMOS, however, when I check the available RAM in Windows
XP it reports only 96MB.. I've switched out and used
several different memory modules I have laying around the
house that are 128+MB and all register 96MB in Windows.
What could be the problem?

If your motherboard has an integrated video graphics controller
it is probably using some of your system RAM for graphics.

If this is the case, you can adjust the amount of 'shared' memory
that the graphics controller uses by entering the system's BIOS
setup program. You could reduce the shared memory from 32MB down
to 16MB witjout too much degradadtion in performance for most
applications (not games).

You may want to add another 128MB module to help your PC get some
extra 'breathing room' to operate more smoothly, since 128MB is
really at the minimum level.
