RAM Problems

I have got an older Toshiba Sattellite Laptop which should have 300 odd mb of
RAM. Now, here is my problem. I have swiped this computer and restored it
back to Windows 98 SE where it detects this RAM, although when I swipe it
again and put Windows XP onto it, it only detects 64MB of it which makes it
painfully slow.

I have checked BIOS and it all seems to register apart from the 300 odd mb
of RAM is listed as extended memory if that makes any difference.

Anyway, it beats me so is there anyone that knows the solution?

Thanks!

Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information>Look
in Computer Summary. The last few
lines should tell you how much physical memory you have and how much is
being used.

Thanks, I have done this, but it still says that I have 64MB RAM. I decided
to take the RAM out and then put it back in again just to see if it worked,
but it didn't although I took these notes down which appeared in the BIOS
screen:

When RAM was taken out:
System Memory - 640KB
Extended Memory - 63MB

When RAM was put back in:
System Memory - 640KB
Extended Memory - 319MB

Both times, Windows XP mentioned I had 64MB RAM (which I know isn't the case
with the extra RAM!)

I still need more help!

Thanks.
