I booted up today and instead of 1 gig of RAM, I had 512 MB. I opened
the case and pushed down on the RAM, rebooted, and I have a gig again.
Anyone know what might be going on?

Thanks,

Kind of obvious, one stick was either not properly seated or wasn't making
proper contact on the slot.

That's what I am hoping but I worry it may be a slot on the motherboard
because it seemed to be seated well.

The heating and cooling makes componants expand and constrict which can make
them come loose over time. The ram stick might not have been pushed fully
home to start with. Its not something to worry about unless it keeps
happening.

Are any of the cooling fans vibrating more than usual? Maybe something
shook the RAM Module loose.

No, but ever since I gave the RAM a little push, no problems.
