ram/memory testing

in the past i have tested my ram but i forget how to do
it now. i have been getting occasional memory errors and
i thought i would test the ram. please help.

I always use PCCheck but you may not have it. Do you

I use Prime 95 to stress the RAM if something bad happens during this test
then I know there`s a problem with either CPU/RAM if you`re not overclocking
the CPU its most often the RAM so then you can trial and error with the
other sticks in your system untill its Prime 95 stable or replace if its the
only stick in the system.

I don`t think there is a program that you start and 5 minutes later it says
"you know the memory in dimmx is malfunctioning" I have learned to read the
signs;

Spontaneous Reboots
3D Mark / Games crashing to the desktop

Bluescreen errors;
PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

Friend of mine has a system with 1GB of DDR ram and I was round there last
week we were playing Max Payne 2 and it crashed to the desktop that
immediately made my think RAM we loaded it up again and played for a while
longer 30mins to an hour then it Spontaneously Rebooted so as we were going
out I said for him to leave Prime 95 running overnight - next day I asked
him and he said it was still running (12hours later) so we left it at that.

I went round again this past Saturday becuase he had just bought a new
Radeon 9800 Pro we were setting it up and tried to run 3D Mark 2001se - it
would not complete the benchmark kept crashing to the desktop so I removed
one of his 512MB sticks and before XP had finished loading it spontaneously
rebooted so then we put the other stick in and it completed 3D Mark 2001se
benchmark - he`s since had the bad stick replaced and his system runs no
problem now - so with 1GB DDR Prime 95 could take even longer to error.
