hi, my son got some used? ram cards, and i wanted to know if i could install them on my hp pavillion. there is a brand that starts with a v written on them(can't remember). i have 256 ram, but would like more for winxp home. each card has a bunch of chips in line, and metal pins where they fit in slots. im not sure it would hurt to install them, just want to see if they work. could you tell me?

Are these Ram Modules compatible with your Hp Pavillion? Look for a
PC100, 133 DDR2100, 2700 etc. See if they
match up.

the chips are liteon20v0 on the backside, and on the front,
1036d on the board, and 9436 k usa and other numbers on
the ships themselves. which one of these numbers should i
use, and where should i go to compare them to my hp pavillion
510n?

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module be compatible
with both the motherboard and any other RAM module(s) in the system.
Additionally, there are sometimes jumper switches on older
motherboards that need to be reset for the new RAM configuration.
Consult your motherboard's manual.
