RAM help

Hey ya’ll im new here and was wondering something....a friend has an
OLD computer here..its got a 32 ram chip in it...but ummm im not sure
what kind i need to oreder to get more?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

And no one will be able to tell you what RAM to get unless you state
some facts about the computer other then it’s OLD. Could you perhaps
tell use the manufacturer of the motherboard and the motherboards
name?

ahhh crap i dont know..so theres no way i can just buy a chip and put
it in..say another 32? i just know theres dif kinds..sd..d etc etc..im
not sure on the difference ?

Use a program such as Everest to find out the motherboard manufacturer
and model. Then go to crucial.com and enter the information in their
memory selector. It will tell you what memory the computer can use.
 
This post is way off topic! This has nothing to do with XP directly!

If the old PC only have a 32 MB RAM chip installed, it is probabily way too
old to use XP on it. XP would like to start having 128MB of RAM in order to
at least "run" reasonable well.
