I went to modify the RAM alotment in the BIOS screen and saw that that option
was only for XP and not Vista. How do I find out how much RAM is set aside
for my on-board graphics chip and how do I modify it.

Thanks in advance.

Counter_Strike,

You can see the video card/system memory allocation configuration by right
clicking an empty spot on the desktop and selecting Personalize. Then select
Display Settings and then Advanced. In the window that opens, you can view
the Dedicated Video Memory (on the card itself), also the Shared System
Memory.

You may or may not be able to change this configuration in BIOS, but I'm not
familiar with all BIOSes, so it's up to the user to determine whether his
BIOS supports changing this configuration.

As background, your video card and your computer are made to share system
RAM, but only when you need to do so. For instance, if you are running an
application (such as a graphics intensive game) that requires more memory
than that which is available on your video card, the system kicks in to allow
it to use
general computer RAM. However, when your graphics usage has no need for
system RAM, it's available for other uses. It's a very good technology, and
there seems little reason to want to change this way of managing video RAM.
If you need additional technical information about this, use google to search
the Internet. A lot of information is available.

Does this (rather by default) apply to a dedicated PCIex16 GPU or just the
GPU on the motherboard? I'm not sure.

Thanks.
