I have 512k ram and my laptop is new and barely has any software on it
and I only have 100 free at any time.

Howdy,

No expert I, but...

In that situation, why not reformat, and install XP again.

If you had a ton of software installed you would then have a
lot of work to do, but because your system "barely has any
software" this approach might be your best bet.

All the best,

Usually [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] opens the taskmanager...

Hire a clairvoyant (my sister's rates are very reasonable)
Hire a "computer expert" (not so cheap, and not as effective)
Try exorcising the PC (dip in a bucket of holy water)
Leave the PC off for a week and see if they go on coming in..
Or, as a last resort, you could try an Antivirus software.........

This is not necessarily a problem. If the memory is not in use by
something else, windows may well use it for cacheing.

Look in control panel -> system -> advanced -> performance -> advanced

and ensure that the memory usage is set for programs and not system
cache.
