My DC has a RAID 5 system (with 5 total physical drives), I only have one (C:) partition. Is there's a way to increase the disk space without re-installation or format?

I would be worried if you had 2 or 3 C: partitions.

You have run into one of the problems inherent with having everything on one
partition. Ideally, you would have a 9 or possibly 18 gig partition of the
OS, and another volume for your data and / or applications. This way, you
can easily backup the data partition, delete the logical volume on the array
controller, add more disks, recreate the volume, write a sig to it and
create a partition, then restore your data.

now... what kind of server is it? what kind of array controller, and what
array management software are you using?
I can better advise you when i know these answers..

First, you must add the disk hardware wise, and then add it to your current
container, so that it appears as free space adjacent to your current C:.
Check your RAID controller documentation how to do this.

The, you might be able to use diskpart.exe from "safe mode with command
prompt" to expand your system partition to fill the entire disk.

This is normally not recommended on the system partition, but usually works
anyway. Also see this MS Knowledge Base article:

Another option is to perform an upgrade installation, as this article

Server: IBM xServer 235, RAID controller IBM 5i, I do agree it is probably best to have 2 partition, C: with 20G (just incase I run out the space for program installation), the rest for D:. According to IBM, either way, one or two partition, it will be no problem to add more drive and expand the space on the same logical drive. Is there any possible problems I may face if I do 2 partitions? Is there any benefit for only one partition?
