Hey there,

I've got a RAID card with SCSI on a machine and one of the Fujitsu 36 gb
HDD's failed. It's a MAP3367NC 10,000 RPM drive. The machine is still
running on the other 2 HDDs on RAID 5.

The only available HDDs from the dealer is a 15,000 rpm Fujitsu MAU3036NC
36 gb HDD.

If I have 2 HDDs at 10,000 rpm and one at 15,000 rpm, will this affect
anything in striping the data to this new, faster HDD?

Thanks,

Gordon

It should work. The read/write rate would be at the same speed as the slower
drives.

First, this question is not relating to XP.

For hardware RAID, when you have to replace hard drives, the only true
parameter your need to look for is the same drive size. Speed does not matter.

Not necessarily true. Windows XP can be installed on a hardware raid. It is
on two of my machines.

True XP can be installed on hardware raid, but as far as XP is concerned the
RAID is hardware controlled and the RAID volume(s) appear as one or more
physical drives that are treated as normal IDE drives.

This is operating system independent.
