i have a pci raid card, it has 2 eide slots, can i use these slots as just another hdd slot, i dont want to raid em, just plug a hdd in and use as another disk storage, if so how, i plugged one in but didnt show up? any ideas?

It depends on the type of card you have, so you'll have to read the manual or check it out on the net. Do you know the model?

it didnt have a manual, just part of an upgrade, it has no make on it, just 2 eide slots, so lets say its possible, what am i looking to do to get a drive recognised from running off it, what do i need to do?

... install the drivers? maybe?

i think its a jbod set up i need, how do i set the card up, is it in a special bios?

that is what JBOD is, Just a Bunch Of Disks.

which basically means you can attach hard disks without them being in an array.

You should have a RAID BIOS which should be accessible on boot up, there should be a message asking you to press a certain key to access the RAID controllers BIOS.

When your computer is loading normaly after the first screen where it tells you your processor and somtimes checks the memore (as long as theres no splash screen) it normaly reads the raid card and it will normaly say somthing to enter the raid bios (ctrl + s) i think but thats normaly to array the disks. other than that it should read fine, you'll probably just need to install the drivers in windows
