I want to connect two 120 Gb harddisks and two 80 Gb harddisks on IDE3 and
IDE4.

I would like to know if I should connect the 120 Gb harddisks as master on
IDE3 and IDE4 and the 80 Gb's as slave.
Or both 120 Gb harddisks on IDE3 as master and slave and the 80 Gb's on IDE4
as master and slave?

Since you haven't told us what mobo or Raid
you're planning I assumed 2 separate Raid
arrays, since your pairs are differently sized. For either
Raid 0 or Raid 1 having the drives on separate controllers
is recommended for maximum throughput.
Here's a good explanation of Raid.

It makes no difference.

Put any two drives used simultaneously (most often) on different
channels, but it doesn't matter if master or slave. If you were
meaning to do a RAID array with these drives, that holds especially
true, put those drives used together on opposing channels.

I'm planning to use a kt7a-r mobo with a onboard highpoint 370 controller.
So I will use both 120 Gb harddisks as master on both channels (in raid 0)
and both 80 Gb harddisks as slaves (in raid 0)since I'm planning to put my
windows on the 120 Gb's.

Thanx
