Try mentioning what hardware you have...However,no such "technology"
is used by any of the mfgs who make the RAID controllers,go to downloads.com
you'll find a ton of similiar 3rd party junk....

Currently I have a Promise FastTrak TX2000 and am mirror the drives. I
am a photographer and I am storing all my digital images on these
drives. My main concern is that if the images don't get checked from
time to time, the HD sectors they are on could go bad and I would never
know about it. This concept of scrubbing makes a lot of sense to
always be checking to see if rarely accessed peices of the drive have
gone bad. The technology does bring up one concern, though... would it
ware out the HD faster with all the read's?

This company, Yellow Machine, has this technology called "Disk
Scrubbing Technology" or RAID DST:

Is this brand new or are there controller cards out there that do the
same thing?

I'm not a RAID expert, but this sounds like flim-flam to be. You should
be backing up your data regularly to some other location/media also.
Then if your hard drive(s) go back, it won't be catastrophic. I like
layered backups - data on one or more hard drives - internal and
external - or backed up to an NAS and then also backed up to DVD-R and
taken off-site to be put in a safe place.

A decent raid controller will have an option within it to verify the drives.
In any case if the data is your business you should be backing up to at
least two locations, on different media.
If your mirror controller fails, even if you install a same brand controller
there is no guarantee that the data would be accessible.
