hi,

can anyone direct me to sites/benchmarks that show the performance of a
"typical" serial ata drive vs. a raid configuration? what i'm really
interested in is the performance boost for a given drive ... is it 1.5x, 2x,
3x? i'm looking at a 3 or 4 drive raid 5.

thnx, lou

You are expecting way too much. RAID5 is often not faster than
the slowest disk in the array.

That depends on critical application you want to run faster. Can you say
what the application is?

The database that is part of HDtach includes some results from RAID configs.
