RAID 1 on the fly

Can I reinstitute RAID 1 without having to go to a complete reload
of the OS, apps & customization?

Had RAID 1 running on the ICH7 ports (also has SI 3132) & lost it.
(While chasing other issues I decided to set the BIOS to default. It
defaulted to non raid. I booted, not knowing, and nearly fainted.
Reset bios to raid, rebooted & got "blah blah missing dlls". So
continued in non-raid. Can still boot from C&D, D being just before
BIOS change

If I can implement on the fly, got some pointers please? I'd even move
to the SI3132's, maybe, if it was easier.

If not then any suggestions as to how I should backup to a hot copy?
Guess I got to buy software! Though of cloning from Acronis but it
expects you to remove the clone! MS backup any good?
thanks

You could image to a spare drive, then setup the raid drives and copy
the image back to the raid drive.

what would i do different?
after the non-raid boot I set the bios to raid & that's when i got the
missing dlls. sounds like what frodo was saying that the raid
controller may write to the disks.
