The reason XP sees it as one drive is because it sounds like the raid is
done in the bios of the controller.

Hi
My ASUS MB (P4PE) supports RAID SATA drives and I have just installed two
new 120mb
drives via the Promise bios settings as RAID 0

The help file in Computer Management sets out how to set up a stripping,
however Win XP sees the drives as one 240mb drive and will not allow me to
select "Click Striped" as it is greyed out so the help file does not seem to
suggest how to change this.

The OS is on a separate drive.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Mark

is that not what the definition of raid 0 ? sees both as one big drive...try
raid 3 if you want to do it manually

Thank you for your responses, I have it working but as I an not very
knowledgeable about this area I am unsure of the "best" way to configure the
drives - Via the Promise Bios utility at boot up or via XP Pro -

As you say it shows as one large drive - I kind of expected it to only show
the size as one drive rather than the total capacity of both!?

Is the an optimal configuration for performance and is it a good idea to
have the OS on the striped drive or only the files - mostly video edit files
and audio tracks.

Thanks
Mark
