I just noticed that normally the Radeon 7500 has a fan, but the one I got
has only got a passive cooler without a fan. Is this normal? Will the
card's CPU get fried at some point?

The card is a Radeon 7500 64MB DDR PCI under the "Club-3D" label.

When I bought an ATI Radeon 7500 a couple of years ago it did not come
with a fan. I later super glued an old 486 CPU fan to it because of
overheating in my computer. The card got almost too hot to touch but
never got damaged by the heat.

Did the same thing with my fanless 7500 AIW. my case is well ventilated, but I thought it a good idea also.

The problem is, everyone seems to get the card with a fan. Examples:

Hell, folks, find me a picture of a Radeon 7500 that lacks a fan! There
is something going on here. Maybe we got some form of "Radeon 7500
cheap version" without knowing it?

When I purchased my Radeon 7500 ATI did Not put a fan on them. They
must have started putting them on because of too many complaints of
overheating. My Radeon was a retail boxed version from ATI.

Hmm. Better get a fan then. I get some random hang-ups at times, but I'm
not sure if they are overheat related or just the usual
windows-crashes-once-again-without-telling-you-anything cases.

Any clues about how to mount it on the cooler? There doesn't seem to be any
obvious way.

I just superglued the fan to the heat sink. Worked fine. I used an old
486 cpu fan so it had the power connector to connect to the regular hard
drive connectors.
