Radeon x800 AIW TV recording problem

It seems like a parade of problems with ATI products...they work for a
while, then something random goes wrong.

Current problem:
* Using MMC 9.13, suddenly recording was causing recordings of images with
vsync problems. TV displays fine, but as soon as I press record, the image
starts to go out of vsync. Additionally, new message of "this is not
compatible with TV on Demand" appears. None of this used to happen, it just
started one day

* Upgraded to 9.16. Still have recording problems above, but now sound also
doesn't work on TV display. Ugh!

* If I record 'native' instead of DVD High (or other presets), then the
video records ok (still sound problems).

* Also, unrelated, but when I schedule a recording, I get a "paramater not
specified" error from the setup....

Any help is very appreciated. It's frustrating, as this was all working fine
when I installed the card. Didn't do anything to affect it that I can think
of...

These AIW cards are terribly frustrating. I have been a diehard AIW
loyalist for many years, but my current one will certainly be my last.

My old Rage AIW worked beautifully. TV quality was good, the soft
worked and all was fine. The 3d performance was, however, somewhat
lacklustre.

My Radeon 9800 Pro AIW worked fine as well. Good 3D performance for
it's vintage and early versions of the Catalyst/MMC were stable and
reliable.

My current X800XT AIW has given me nothing but problems. I have tried
every conceivable driver combination (including 3rd party), I have
reformatted my machine several times - I have done everything possible
without bveing able to resolve several issues:

1) Audio echo when watching TV. It is completely unusable. There are
two audio streams being played about a ½ second apart. There are
numerous net posts about this, but no definitive answers I have been
able to unearth.

2) DVD player simply does not work. As soon as I open the program it
crashes.

The 3D performance of this card is quite satisfactory, but the
accompanying multimedia is terrible. While an advocate of these
multi-function cards in the past, I think that stand-alone options
offer better performance, less hassle and much improved upgradeability.

Good luck resolving your ATI issues! You're gonna need it.

Cheers,
Myles

You don't have any connection between your sound card and the AIW
do you? It uses the bus for sound and if you connect your sound card
as well, you could get echo.
