Since DVI seems to come in different flavors
(
DVI - D video only
DVI - A audio only
DVI - I audio/video
)
and on top of that, each format can be either "single link" or "dual
link", what does the Radeon VE have? All the tech specs Ive found only
say 'DVI'.

The card also says it supports composite video out, but does that
include audio?

Totally wrong. :-) See:

The Radeon VE has a DVI-I single-link port.

Nope. Most cards (even the "VIVO" editions) only deal with the video. It is
however very easy to get audio from your sound card using either a
3.5mm->composite adapter cable or an SPDIF optical cable.
