Hello all

I installed an Radeon® X1600 PRO 512MB AGP and it hangs when I try to run
any graphic intensive app.
I downloaded the vista drivers from ATI but it is the same.

Vista beta 2 latest release.

Windows Vista delivers a major step forward in terms of how graphics hardware
is used by mainstream Windows-based applications, from the Windows desktop to
consumer and line-of-business applications.

To achieve this enhanced desktop experience, the graphics adapter or chipset
must have a Windows Vista Display Driver Model (WDDM) driver and must support
GPU, memory, bandwidth, and other requirements supporting Aero capabilities.

For Windows Vista, graphics requirements for desktop experiences are defined
in relation to differentiated experiences, as described in the Windows Vista
Logo Program requirements and the Windows Driver Kit (WDK).

I found that when I installed the ATI beta drivers downloaded from ATI, I
lost the ablitiy to run the areo Vista interface, I had to revert to the
default Microsoft drivers to get areo to work. So I assume ATI has ALOT of
work still to do on their Vista drivers.

What's the point of this answer. You keep posting it for every graphics
question, but we all get this. He just wants his card to work and clearly
it is capable of Aero Glass.

mine also the only way I could get vista to recognize the card was to
manually install the 6.5 drivers, blue screen on exit but vista starts okay
with an error message however vista now recognizes my monitor and the card
but no aero or glass I will try the beta drivers again but originally they
would not install

My Radeon X1600 PRO with 256MB of vRAM (AGP 8x) works great with Vista, even
getting glass right after installation. My monitor shows up as 'Generic PnP
Monitor', but it must detect properly otherwise because it knows my
monitor's boundaries for both the screen resolution and refresh rates that
it can support.
