Hi I'm trying to fit the above card . When I do so the pc just gives me a black screen , no bios sreen or anything . Take out the card and the pc works fine .

Do I need to install some drivers first or do something else before I fit the card or have I got a duff card .

My suppliers will replace the card , I've spoken to them on the phone already but didn't wantto send it back without checking to make sure that I'd tried everything to make it work first . :D

Are you going from onboard video to an agp? It could well be a conflict. Ive had this problem many times before. Have a look through the bios and make sure nothings missing that needs to be turned on. You could reset ur bios and try with the card in. Erm ill have a think and get back to you.

Is that the stupid one that needs a floppy power conector to it?

What's the MB?

Questions questons questions ...

that happened to me first time i fitted my 6600 GT, make sure you have connected the display cables to the right place and the card is also connected to your psu.

I had one of those before my 6800GT, Yes it does have a floppy power connector mucks. :)

Have you installed the drivers? Disabled the onboard graphics in BIOS?

mobo - FIC - AM39L
yes I connected the power lead
When I fit the card I get nothing on my monitor , zilch .
So do I install the drivers and change the bios before I fit the card ???????????????
Tried looking for a driver for this card and can only find

Catalyst 6.3 Windows XP - Driver Download

this on the ATI site . All I could find searching on the net was loads of forums talking about omega drivers and overclocking cards .

dont install the drivers before you plug in the card, your best bet is it to remove the card, disable your onbaord graphics in bios then put in the card.

There is no need to install anything or mess with the BIOS

You plug the card in and turn on ... if it don't work you have either an incompatible card, or a duff card.

Are you sure you have the 4pin power connector to the MB as well as the connector to the card?

Card came with a lead , looks like , 1 X small floopy connector (goes to board) 1 X male / 1 X female four pin(same as for CD/HDD) so I pluged it into spare coming from psu .

Mobo manual says,

The motherboard is installed with one 32-bit AGP 8X bus with a dedicated 66Mhz/133Mhz path from the graphics card to the system memory . AGP enabled 3D graphics cards can directly access main memory across this fast path instead of using local memory .

Looks like I may have a dodo :p

I'll say it just once more ... Are you sure you have the 4pin power connector to the MB ... that comes from the PSU

In all you need three power connections ... the main 20pin to the MB that actually powers it ... a 4pin to the MB that supplies power to the AGP AND the floppy type power cable to the graphics card.

Me thinks your cheap FIC MB ain't up to running that graphics card anyway. But I don't mind being wrong. ;)

Then again ... it could be a DOA card.

This is the connector that came with the card .

So the little connector goes to the graphics card . The female 4 pin connector goes to a spare coming from the psu . is that right ???????? :thumb:

Correct ...

But it is the 4pin square block off the PSU to the MB I keep going on about ... ;)

Yep got that one pluged in . If it wasn't plugged in I wouldn't have been able to fire me pc up and add me 5 in one sound card and me Aver TV card .

Me poor old brain is getting very confused with all this new info . I think I've set everything up right for me graphics card so it looks like its a DOA . Now if I can dig me way out of the snowdrifts I'll post it back to Scotland and hopefully they'll send me a replacement . :D

Get ye a Gainward 6600GT Vivo instead ;)

I'd need a good pc to go with it then wouldn't I :p

 :o  So why didn't anyone tell me you had to connect your monitor to the graphics card , and not the on-board graphics connector . :D I don't know you ask for help and all you get is loads of techie stuff  Keep it nice and simple folks :p
