I just upgraded from a GeForce3 to an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (an ATI retail box
purchase from CompUSA, not an off brand).
Now I can't get Grand Theft Auto 3 to run. Tried uninstalling and
reinstalling the game. Tried adding the GTA3 1.1 patch. Tried uninstalling
and reinstalling the latest Radeon drivers from the ATI website. No joy. I
click the GTA3 icon and I get an hourglass for a second and then nothing.
Not even the Rockstar logo splash window.
This is the only piece of software that is exhibiting any problems since I
swapped out the video card. E.g., FS2002, Call of Duty, Deus Ex 2, Jedi
Academy, etc. all run fine (and much faster than on the old GF3 card). I
have made no other hardware or software changes to my system. I googled the
'net and it doesn't look like this is a common problem.
Here are my specs:
Intel D845PESV motherboard, Pentium 4B (533MHz) @ 2.4GHz, 512MB of PC2700DDR
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
Windows XP Home Service Pack 1 (all patches applied)
Radeon Driver version: 6.14.10.6430
DirectX 9.0b
Any advice? Thanks!
